Assemblywoman Yang Hyang-ja Signs Business Agreement on K-Diaspora Project with Jeonnam Provincial Office

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] Independent lawmaker Yang Hyang-ja visited the Jeonnam Provincial Government on the 11th to sign a business agreement for promoting the K-Diaspora Project.

Lawmaker Yang has previously formed the "K-Diaspora Global Promotion Coalition" jointly with the Morning Letter Culture Foundation (Chairman Ko Do-won), the Blue Tree Foundation (Secretary-General Lee Jong-ik), and The Korea Herald (CEO Choi Jin-young), proposing ways to support and nurture the Korean diaspora scattered around the world.

In particular, on the 1st of this month at the National Assembly, the second forum was held under the theme "Connecting with K-Diaspora Youth," where the voices of Korean youth living worldwide were directly heard, and ways to strengthen the ethnic identity of overseas Korean youth were discussed together.

The "K-Diaspora Global Project," led by Lawmaker Yang and the promotion coalition, recognizes overseas Korean youth scattered across 193 countries as future human resources of Korea and was created to provide differentiated education by inviting them to Korea to nurture them alongside domestic youth as creative and future-oriented talents.

Prior to this business agreement with Jeollanam-do, agreements were also signed with Gyeongsangbuk-do and Gangnam-gu Office in Seoul, promising active cooperation in fostering identity and talent development of overseas Korean youth through organic solidarity and cooperation between the private sector and public sector.

As part of this commitment, regionally tailored projects centered on local governments are being developed to create a uniquely Korean "K-Diaspora Project" that surpasses Israel's "Birthright" system.

Lawmaker Yang stated, "The K-Diaspora Global Project is now creating a great response nationwide beyond regions and ideologies, with many local governments expressing their willingness to participate," adding, "We must all take an interest and provide unwavering support so that overseas Korean youth with infinite potential can play a significant role in Korea's future."

The K-Diaspora Global Promotion Coalition announced that following the business agreement with Jeollanam-do, it plans to continue signing relay business agreements nationwide, including with Hwaseong City and Jeollabuk-do.
