Gyeongnam Sancheong-gun Selected for Multiple 'Lifelong Education' Public Projects... 5 Cases Including Adult Literacy Classes 2021 Lifelong Learning Platform Construction Council Meeting.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Sancheong-gun, Gyeongnam Province, has been selected for five lifelong education projects hosted by the Ministry of Education and Gyeongnam Province.


According to the county on the 11th, this year's lifelong education projects include the Visiting Jirisan School, metropolitan literacy education specialization, adult literacy education and support for the operation of the qualification exam program, city and county lifelong learning platform construction project, and Gyeongnam literacy education support project (Dream·Writing Classroom).


Sancheong-gun secured about 68 million KRW in national and provincial funds and will promote various lifelong education projects for all life stages from infants to the elderly over four years with a total of about 256 million KRW.


The qualification exam program operation support project hosted by the Ministry of Education and organized by the National Institute for Lifelong Education, and the Visiting Literacy Classroom Jirisan School project have been selected for the fourth consecutive year, securing about 89 million KRW in national funds.


This project was prepared to further activate basic literacy education necessary for daily life for adults who have not received basic education.


It was newly selected for the Dream·Writing Classroom project organized by the Gyeongnam Lifelong Education Promotion Institute, securing an additional 7 million KRW in provincial funds.


Also, the metropolitan literacy education specialization project was newly selected, receiving 10 million KRW in national funds to carry out a project where adult literacy education instructors and the elderly create "large print fairy tale books" together.


The city and county lifelong learning platform construction project, which has been ongoing since 2020, was selected for the third consecutive year, securing 150 million KRW in provincial funds to carry out various projects targeting infants, the elderly, and the disabled.


Various programs are conducted, including programs where infants and parents can participate together, programs where youth create Sancheong goods, YouTube creator courses, village learning centers sharing happiness for the elderly, and Nanta classes for young disabled people.


A county official said, "Since being selected as a lifelong learning city by the Ministry of Education in 2017, we have actively participated in contests and have been conducting 3 to 4 projects every year," adding, "We will develop customized lifelong education programs so that residents can live happy lives through lifelong education."
