Wanju-gun Discovers Sports Tourism Utilizing Nordic Walking

Woosuk University Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation Signs MOU with International Nordic Walking Association

[Wanju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Han-ho] Wanju County announced on the 11th that it has signed a business agreement with Woosuk University Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation (Director Oh Seok-heung) and the International Nordic Walking Association (President Park Yo-han) to jointly cooperate in developing and operating tourism programs through sports.

On this day, the three organizations agreed to ▲ develop and operate programs to revitalize tourism through sports ▲ promote mutual exchange and cooperation by supporting professional personnel and equipment related to Nordic walking ▲ and jointly strive for friendly exchanges among the three organizations and promotional marketing to revitalize county tourism.

The discovery of sports tourism products using Nordic walking is the first in Jeonbuk.

Nordic walking is a walking method that pushes the ground with sticks, and has been used in Europe for 70 years as a rehabilitation method for joint protection and muscle training.

In Korea, it was introduced in the early 2000s and has steadily formed a fan base as a newly spotlighted healthy and correct posture walking method.

Starting with this agreement, Wanju County plans to conduct a total of five Nordic walking experience programs for residents and tourists from June to August.

In September and October, a national Nordic walking competition is scheduled to be held at Gosan Natural Recreation Forest and Mankyung River Trail.

Meanwhile, last July, Wanju County held a Nordic walking event with about 30 participants, walking a round trip of about 6 km along the Mankyung River from Samnye Bibijeong Win-Win City Forest to Harigyo Bridge.
