[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] The detour hiking trail section from Anpyeongjeon to Seonginbong in Ulleung-gun, which was closed in 2015, reopened on the 11th.
Ulleung-gun invested 400 million KRW to open a new trail on the opposite slope of the existing trail, which had been closed for several years due to rockfall damage.
Safety was ensured by constructing wooden decks (2 locations, total 55m), coir mats (130m), and wooden stairs in some steep sections.
Access for hikers has become easier, and outdoor benches and direction signs were installed along the new route for hikers to rest and navigate conveniently.
Kim Byung-su, the mayor of Ulleung-gun, said, “We hope this trail, along with the existing courses, will become a popular spot for hikers, and we urge everyone to hike safely.”
Ulleung-gun plans to conduct a comprehensive maintenance of the existing sections this year to prevent accidents and improve convenience for hikers visiting Seonginbong.
