[Jeju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Jeongpil] A woman in her 30s and a teenage boy, both residents of Jeju Island, who were drifting away on a rubber tube at Hyeopjae Beach in Hallim-eup, Jeju City, were rescued by the Jeju Coast Guard.
According to the Jeju Maritime Police Station on the 11th, a report was received at 4:27 PM the previous day that a rubber boat carrying people was drifting out to the open sea from Hyeopjae Beach in Hallim-eup, Jeju City.
The Hallim Police Substation's maritime patrol team, dispatched after receiving the report, found Ms. A (female, 30s) and Mr. B (male, teenager), both Jeju residents, at around 4:33 PM approximately 300 meters from Hyeopjae Beach.
The Jeju Coast Guard immediately rescued Ms. A and Mr. B safely, and after confirming their health status showed no abnormalities, they entered Hallim Port at around 4:48 PM. After providing safety guidance for water play, they were sent home.
A Jeju Coast Guard official said, "As the weather is gradually warming up recently, more people are entering the sea to cool off," adding, "Swimming in beaches without lifeguards is connected to life itself, so we ask for special caution."
