[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwan-joo] Domestic pharmaceutical companies are donating antibiotics and other medicines to Ukraine, which is struggling due to the war.

The Korea Pharmaceutical and Bio-Pharma Manufacturers Association announced on the 11th that eight member companies will deliver medicines, quasi-drugs, and health functional foods worth about 3 billion KRW to Ukraine through Global Life Sharing.

This donation was made in response to Global Life Sharing's request to the association for essential medicines and other necessary supplies to support the people in Ukraine and refugee camps. Global Life Sharing is an international relief NGO specializing in providing medical supplies and equipment to overseas medically underserved areas and disaster sites, as well as conducting research related to international relief and development.

The participating pharmaceutical companies are Kyungdong Pharmaceutical, Daewoong Pharmaceutical, Dongkook Pharmaceutical, Ilyang Pharmaceutical, Genupharm, Person, Hana Pharmaceutical, and Hanmi Pharmaceutical. They have agreed to promptly provide antibiotics, burn ointments, and other medicines urgently requested by the Ukrainian Embassy. On the 9th, medicines worth about 230 million KRW, including antibiotics, were packaged, and additional supplies will soon be delivered by air to the Military Medical Command of the Ukrainian government.

Dmytro Ponomarenko, the Ukrainian Ambassador to Korea, expressed his sincere gratitude, saying, "I sincerely thank Global Life Sharing and the member companies of the Korea Pharmaceutical and Bio-Pharma Manufacturers Association for donating medicines and other supplies in this emergency situation."
