[Asia Economy, reporter Yoo Hyunseok] Aero K Airlines announced on April 11 that it has surpassed a cumulative total of 200,000 passengers and will celebrate its official first anniversary on April 15.
Despite facing the unexpected challenge of COVID-19 from the very beginning of its operations, Aero K Airlines not only surpassed 200,000 cumulative passengers but also achieved the highest load factor for four consecutive months.
Kang Byungho, CEO of Aero K Airlines, stated, "The interest and support from the local community have been a great source of strength in overcoming the COVID-19 crisis." He added, "With the support and interest of Chungcheongbuk-do and Cheongju City, we will do our utmost to attract new investments, introduce new aircraft, and open up international routes at Cheongju International Airport, where international flights will resume from May."
Based at Cheongju International Airport, Aero K Airlines launched its first Cheongju-Jeju route on April 15, 2021. The initial load factor was only 13.5%, but it increased steadily by 25.3% each month compared to the previous month, reaching a load factor of 95.1% as of February. From November last year to February this year, the airline also recorded the highest load factor in the market.
By region, Daejeon and the Chungcheong area accounted for 48.1% of passengers, followed by Seoul and Gyeonggi with 38.9%, further establishing Aero K's reputation as a Cheongju International Airport-based carrier.
Aero K Airlines introduced Korea's first genderless uniforms and has consistently built two-way communication through social media, as well as offering a variety of branded products, positioning itself as a next-generation lifestyle brand.
On April 15, the day of its first anniversary, Aero K will give all passengers a commemorative hand towel as a special anniversary goodie. In addition, there will be a special event where the 1st, 11th, and 111th passengers will receive a specially designed set of anniversary goods.
The anniversary goods feature unique Hangul lettering designed specifically for Aero K's first anniversary, with the vowel 'ㅣ' replaced by the number '1'. An Aero K representative explained, "We based the font design on the airport runway, and elevated the Hangul character 'eo' to symbolize the airline's identity."
In addition, a first anniversary promotion code offering a 16,000 KRW discount on round-trip tickets will be available until April 17. On the online select shop 29CM, Aero K's various products can be purchased at an 11% discount until April 15.
