All Three Candidates Are Incumbent Metropolitan Governors

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jun-yi] The People Power Party has confirmed the nominations for metropolitan government heads in Seoul, Busan, and Gyeongbuk ahead of the June 1 local elections.
On the 11th, the People Power Party held a Supreme Council meeting and confirmed Oh Se-hoon, the current Mayor of Seoul, as the candidate for Seoul Metropolitan Mayor; Park Hyung-joon, the current Mayor of Busan, as the candidate for Busan Metropolitan Mayor; and Lee Cheol-woo, the current Governor of Gyeongbuk Province, as the candidate for Gyeongbuk Governor. All three candidates are incumbent metropolitan government heads.
Candidate Oh won in all 25 districts of Seoul against Park Young-sun of the Democratic Party in the April 7 by-election. He previously served as a member of the 16th National Assembly and as the 33rd and 34th Mayor of Seoul.
Candidate Park also won against the Democratic Party in the April 7 by-election. Mayor Park served as a member of the 17th National Assembly and was the Senior Secretary for Political Affairs at the Presidential Office during the Lee Myung-bak administration.
Candidate Lee is a three-term National Assembly member (18th, 19th, and 20th terms) and has served as a Supreme Council member of the Liberty Korea Party.
