[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Hyung-gil] The Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) and the Korea Energy Economics Institute (KEEI) have embarked on a joint research project to propose energy and industrial structure transition policies in response to carbon neutrality.

On the 11th, KCCI and KEEI announced that they signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on the "Research on Energy and Industrial Policies for Transition to a Carbon Neutral Society."

The two organizations will conduct joint research on carbon neutrality implementation and energy transition measures, transition to a low-carbon industrial structure, and strengthening industrial competitiveness. They will also jointly hold policy forums to discuss current issues in the energy sector and provide policy recommendations, as well as exchange knowledge and information such as research personnel and publications.

Im Jin, Director of KCCI's SGI (Sustainable Growth Initiative), stated, "We are currently facing a situation where we must continue economic growth while responding to climate change," adding, "We will strive to establish effective policies so that achieving carbon neutrality can become an opportunity to strengthen domestic industrial competitiveness."

Im Chun-taek, President of KEEI, emphasized, "Carbon neutrality and ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) are unavoidable changes in the global business environment," and added, "We will support domestic companies in overcoming the recently intensifying Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) and energy security crisis."
