Suwon City to Create 35,000 Jobs This Year

[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Suwon City in Gyeonggi Province will create 35,000 jobs this year.

In accordance with the 'Local Job Target Disclosure System,' Suwon City recently announced the detailed plan for this year's job policies on the 'City Administration News' board on the Suwon City website.

The detailed plan for this year's job policies, with the vision of "Happiness through Work, Suwon, a City with Many Jobs," focuses on creating sustainable and better jobs, establishing a foundation for future growth industries, and realizing labor welfare that makes citizens happy. The goal is to achieve an employment rate of 66.3% and create 35,000 jobs.

To achieve these goals, the city will promote 304 projects across 9 sectors based on four core strategies: ▲generation-tailored job support ▲activation of startups and future new industries ▲creation of quality public jobs ▲strengthening citizens' labor welfare rights.

The city supports generation-tailored jobs by expanding youth-specialized workforce training job projects and operating the New Middle-aged Life Reboot Support Center. It also plans to activate startups and future new industries through Suwon-style startup support, creating an ecosystem for future strategic industries, and attracting promising new growth small and medium enterprises.

Quality public jobs linked to social services will be expanded, and labor welfare support for non-regular workers will be strengthened to enhance citizens' 'labor welfare rights.'

A city official emphasized, "We will faithfully implement job policies to surely achieve this year's job creation goals," and added, "We will do our best to create high-quality jobs."

Introduced in 2010, the Local Job Target Disclosure System requires local government heads to establish and announce job targets and job policies they aim to achieve during their terms to citizens. The central government supports local government policies, verifies implementation results, and provides incentives to outstanding local governments.
