[Asia Economy Reporter Heo Midam] Amid recent revelations of sexual assaults by Russian soldiers in Ukraine, a video showing a Russian soldier sexually abusing a one-year-old Ukrainian baby has circulated online, sparking outrage.

On the 10th (local time), according to foreign media including the British daily The Mirror, a Russian soldier was arrested by police after posting a video of himself sexually assaulting a Ukrainian baby on his social networking service (SNS) account.

Foreign media identified the soldier as Aleksei Bichkov, born in 1997 and from Krasnodar in southern Russia. The soldier reportedly sent obscene images and videos to fellow soldiers. Additionally, the videos he recorded were circulated through Telegram and other social media sites.

Netizens worldwide who learned of this news have raised their voices in criticism against him. In particular, netizens are sharing various personal information about Bichkov, such as his age, hometown, and residence, through SNS. One foreign netizen tweeted, "I can't believe it. I hope this article is false. He is a disgusting demon," adding, "I pray for the war to end soon and for a peaceful world to come."

Ukrainian diplomat Oleksandr Shcherba also posted Bichkov’s photo on his Twitter, saying, "Look at the monster who raped a baby. Someone sent me a link to what he did, but I couldn’t bring myself to open it."

This is a war crime."

In particular, on the 4th, controversy arose after the body of a woman was found murdered with a Nazi symbol engraved on her. Lesia Vasylenko, a member of the Ukrainian Holos Party in the National Assembly, shared a photo on Twitter, saying, "The body of a woman who was raped, tortured, and killed." The photo showed a red swastika, the symbol of Nazi Germany led by Adolf Hitler during World War II, marked on the Ukrainian woman’s abdomen.

Lawmaker Vasylenko expressed anger, saying, "Russian soldiers loot, rape, and kill Ukrainians," and "The 10-year-old girl who was raped and the woman tortured with Nazi symbols were all victims of acts committed by Russia and Russian men."
