Victim Yoon of 'Valley Murder' Found Unconscious During Rescue... Situation at the Time

It Took '43 Minutes' from Initial Report to Rescue

Victim Yoon of 'Valley Murder' Found Unconscious During Rescue... Situation at the Time Suspect Lee Eun-hae (left) and accomplice Jo Hyun-soo in the 'Valley Murder' case.

[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kim Se-eun] It has been revealed that it took at least 43 minutes to rescue victim Yoon Mo (aged 39 at the time of death) in the so-called 'valley murder' case after the 119 emergency call.

According to the 'Patient Ambulance Activity Status in Dodae-ri, Buk-myeon, Gapyeong-gun, Gyeonggi-do' received by Oh Young-hwan, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, from the Fire Department on the 10th, the rescue team saved Yoon at 9:07 p.m. on June 30, 2019.

The initial report was made at 8:24 p.m. on the same day. The report records confirm that Yoon was missing for some time after falling into the water.

It took about 19 minutes for the Buk-myeon 119 ambulance team from the Gapyeong Fire Station to arrive at the Yongso Waterfall valley after receiving the report. The distance from the ambulance team's location to the valley is about 14 km, with a one-lane road, and it usually takes about 15 to 17 minutes.

The ambulance team first found Yoon at 9:05 p.m. and reportedly made contact with him at 9:07 p.m.

At the time of rescue, Yoon was unconscious. The rescue team performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) for about 15 minutes on Yoon, who had no breathing or pulse, and then transported him to a nearby hospital 40 minutes away, but Yoon ultimately died.

Typically, the time taken for rescue is calculated based on the 'time of contact' with the rescue target, not the 'time of discovery' by the rescue team member, so a total of 43 minutes elapsed from the initial report to the rescue.

Considering that the suspect in this murder case, Lee Eun-hae (31), said on the SBS program "Unanswered Questions" that "I tried to throw a rescue tube to Yoon but could not find him underwater," it is estimated that Yoon was underwater longer than previously known.

Meanwhile, Lee, who disappeared after the first prosecution investigation in December last year, has been missing for four months. The Incheon District Prosecutors' Office and Incheon Police Agency have formed a joint prosecution and police task force and are publicly searching for suspect Lee and accomplice Jo Hyun-soo (30).
