Expert: "It appears Mr. Yoon was Gaslighted"
Third Arrest Warrant Issued... 'Prosecutor-Police Joint Task Force' Formed
[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kim Se-eun] It has been reported that the victim of the 'Gapyeong Valley Murder Case,' Yoon Mo (39 years old at the time of death), had pleaded with accomplice Jo Hyun-soo (30 years old) during his lifetime, hoping to restore his relationship with his wife and suspect Lee Eun-hae (31 years old).
According to a Channel A report on the 8th, Yoon sent messages to Jo via social networking services (SNS) saying, "I don't want Eun-hae to call me trash," and "I just want to be respected, not called a lunatic."
The messages also included content expressing that Yoon himself wanted to be acknowledged by Lee.
He also expressed fear of Lee, saying, "I'm a little scared now that Eun-hae might get annoyed and curse," but soon added, "I want to be recognized by Eun-hae like Hyun-soo (the accomplice). I want to be acknowledged and live well," hoping to restore their relationship.
Experts are analyzing that Yoon was likely subjected to 'gaslighting' by Lee. Gaslighting refers to the act of mentally controlling another person to make them like a slave.
In fact, Yoon was a former researcher at a large company with an annual salary of about 60 million won, but after handing over all economic rights to Lee, he experienced financial difficulties. Moreover, although they prepared a newlywed home with Lee, he could not live there and was residing in a semi-basement.
Professor Lee Soo-jung of the Department of Criminal Psychology at Kyonggi University appeared on KBS on the 8th and said, "Lee deliberately monitored every move of the victim Yoon. Also, although Lee acted as if she would give love to Yoon, she did not maintain a normal marital relationship."
She added, "Nevertheless, Yoon had devoted affection for his wife Lee. Using Yoon's psychology, Lee applied various types of psychological pressure (gaslighting)."
Suspect Lee and accomplice Jo have been missing for four months since their first prosecution investigation on December 13. Although the prosecution disclosed some personal information about them on the 30th of last month and switched to a public investigation, the investigation is facing difficulties due to the lack of decisive tips.
Another accomplice, A (male, 30 years old), is currently detained in a detention center for another fraud case and is suspected of attempted murder and violation of the Special Act on the Prevention of Insurance Fraud.
The Incheon District Prosecutors' Office and Incheon Police Agency have formed a joint prosecution-police arrest team and are making every effort to capture the suspects. The expiration date of their arrest warrants is the 12th of this month, and the prosecution obtained a third arrest warrant yesterday. The warrant is valid for three months and will expire on July 7.
