[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Dongdaemun-gu (Mayor Yoo Deok-yeol) will conduct the 2022 Dongdaemun-gu First Half University Student Learning Mentoring program from April to June.

To reduce the learning gap among students caused by the learning gap due to COVID-19, 93 university student mentors will provide 2-hour sessions per meeting in subjects such as Korean, English, and Mathematics to 156 students from elementary, middle, and high schools, local children's centers, and Our Neighborhood Care Centers.

The university student learning mentoring program conducted by Dongdaemun-gu is an annual program where university students from excellent universities in Seoul serve as mentors to provide personalized lessons to students from elementary, middle, and high schools, local children's centers, and Our Neighborhood Care Centers to improve their learning abilities.

As a result of continuous efforts by the district to recruit excellent university students as mentors, not only universities within the region but also outstanding university students from other districts such as Kwangwoon University, Dongguk University, Seoul National University of Science and Technology, Sungkyunkwan University, and Hansung University are expected to participate as mentors, providing higher quality lessons.

The district plans to make efforts to recruit talented and excellent university students so that classes can be conducted in various fields beyond academic subjects, including humanities and social sciences, languages, psychology, and career counseling.

Yoo Deok-yeol, Mayor of Dongdaemun-gu, stated, “I hope that through the university student learning mentoring program, local students will meet students from excellent universities in Seoul and receive great help in academic achievement.”

In the future, elementary, middle, and high school students in the region and university students in Seoul who wish to participate in the Dongdaemun-gu university student learning mentoring program can apply through their affiliated schools, local children's centers, or Our Neighborhood Care Centers. For more details, please contact the Education Support Division of Dongdaemun-gu Office.
