[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yeo Jong-gu] Lee Byung-hwan, the governor of Seongju-gun, Gyeongbuk, visited the Gyeongbuk Provincial Government Office on the 8th and held a meeting with Lee Cheol-woo, the governor of Gyeongbuk, initiating active efforts including requesting cooperation to resolve major pending issues.


The governor visited to discuss and propose key projects to actively reflect regional pending projects in the balanced development tasks of Gyeongbuk Province in line with the launch of the new government.


Governor Lee Byung-hwan of Seongju-gun requested the inclusion of urgently needed pending tasks such as ▲establishing a metropolitan development plan for the western Gyeongbuk region linked with the Southern Inland Railroad, ▲construction of a light rail between Seongju-gun and Daegu Munyang Station, ▲construction of a highway connecting Muju, Seongju, and Daegu, and ▲registration of the Joseon Dynasty Royal Placenta as a World Heritage site.


He also hoped to accelerate projects expanding transportation networks that improve accessibility to metropolitan areas, such as ▲expansion to four lanes of Local Road No. 905 (between Seongju and Chojeon), ▲construction of Local Road No. 905 (between Dongnak and Najung), and ▲construction of Local Road No. 923 (between Doseong and Yongsin). He proposed the opening of a highway connecting Seongju, Gumi, and Gunwi to improve accessibility to the Daegu-Gyeongbuk New Airport, a key policy of Gyeongbuk Province.


Governor Lee Byung-hwan said, “Cooperation with Gyeongbuk Province is important along with establishing future strategies to continuously promote pending issues,” and added, “We will maintain close communication with the central government and Gyeongbuk Province.”
