[Asia Economy Reporter No Woo-rae] Park Ye-ji (17, Daejeon Yeobang Technical High School, photo) won the women's division at the 1st Korea Golf Association President's Cup Amateur Championship.
In the final 3rd round of the tournament held on the 8th at Naejangsan Golf & Resort (Par 72) in Jeongeup-si, Jeonbuk, she added 2 under par to tie with Lee Jeong-hyun (16, Curliz Academy Seoul) at 11 under par 205 strokes, then secured the victory on the first hole of the playoff. If an active national team player had won this tournament, they would have secured a spot for the Asian Games in Hangzhou, China, this September; however, since Park Ye-ji is currently a reserve player, she did not obtain the right to participate.
In the women's golf division at the Asian Games, one professional and two amateurs will participate. The two female amateur players will be selected through the national team selection event held from the 17th to the 21st at Golfzon County Ora in Jeju City. In the men's division, where two professionals and two amateurs participate, the amateur championship winner Jang Yoo-bin (20, Korea National Sport University) has secured a spot. The remaining spot will be decided through the same selection event as the women's division during the same period. Professionals will be selected based on the world rankings as of the 25th.
