Mexican Food That Perfectly Suits My Taste, Do You Know 'Kuchara'?

‘Favorite’ is not something I choose. ‘Favorite’ approaches like a comet I don’t even notice and plants a flag in my heart. This is a famous phrase among people who are into fandom culture. For me, Mexican food was like that. I fell in love at first sight, and before I knew it, I was eating it as often as Korean food. That’s how I became a Mexican food enthusiast.

As usual, while drooling over Mexican food photos on SNS, I discovered an interesting restaurant. A place where you can choose ingredients tailored to my taste! I can’t resist this. I visited the store right away.

Today’s introduction is a Mexican food specialty restaurant called ‘Kuchara.’ ‘Kuchara’ means spoon in Spanish. When you open the door and enter, the light and free atmosphere inside catches your eye. The music makes you nod your head and get into the rhythm, lifting your mood.

Kuchara is a place where you can create your own menu by selecting the options you want. It’s similar to Subway’s style, but there’s no need to be nervous. You only need to decide on four main things: menu type, rice and beans, main ingredient, and salsa, and then a delicious Mexican dish is ready.

Here, you can order from four menu types: burrito, burrito bowl, taco, and salad. For rice, you can choose from white rice, brown barley rice, or cauliflower rice. Cilantro is mixed into the rice, giving it a subtle cilantro aroma, so keep that in mind when ordering. You can also add black turtle beans and kidney beans.

Main ingredients include chicken, steak, shrimp, and pork. There is also a tofu option, so if you are vegan, you can choose tofu. Finally, select from green chili, red chili, tomato salsa, and corn salsa to add. If the last step feels complicated, you can just say, ‘Put everything in!’

Among the four menu types, I chose the burrito bowl, which is harder to try compared to burrito, taco, or salad. I ordered brown barley rice and a half-and-half mix of the two beans. For the main ingredient, I picked Hell Fire Chicken. For sauces, I chose green chili and requested both tomato salsa and corn salsa.

According to the order, ingredients are placed in a bowl, and finally, sour cream, romaine lettuce, and cheese are generously added on top.

This is Kuchara’s burrito bowl! It looks healthy with plenty of romaine lettuce on top. Underneath the romaine, there is a generous amount of meat, beans, rice, and salsa. There are various ways to eat it. You can mix it little by little with the sauce, or eat it by placing some ingredients on top. Mixing everything like bibimbap is also GOOD.

I took a spoonful. Wow! It’s a taste that makes you exclaim. It’s spicy and sour at the same time, and tender. The salsa and sour cream create an exotic flavor over the spicy chicken, while the cheese and beans wrap it softly and nuttily. The romaine and tomato salsa add a fresh and pleasant feeling. Compared to a burrito, it’s much lighter, and although it contains rice and beans, it tastes closer to a salad.

With rice, beans, and meat, it’s quite filling. It’s great as a meal or a hearty snack. It’s also perfect as a side dish with beer. Mexican food is truly a perfect cuisine.

Kuchara is a place where you can enjoy wonderful Mexican food by combining ingredients as you like! I recommend it to those craving exotic food or looking for a casual Mexican restaurant. The burrito bowl here might just become your ‘favorite’.
