[Boseong=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Kim Cheol-woo, the Democratic Party of Korea's preliminary candidate for Boseong County Governor, announced on the 7th that he will officially begin his election campaign by holding a visiting-style (walking-through) plaque unveiling ceremony at his campaign office on the 9th from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., instead of a gathering-type opening ceremony to prevent COVID-19.

On that day, many supporters including Kim Seung-nam, Chairman of the Jeonnam Provincial Party Committee of the Democratic Party of Korea, Democratic Party members, and Boseong residents are expected to visit. Just as the inauguration ceremony of the 7th local government was the first in the nation to be canceled due to a typhoon, preliminary candidate Kim Cheol-woo is setting an example with an innovative visiting-style plaque unveiling ceremony that differentiates him from other candidates for the safety of residents and sincere meetings.

Kim Cheol-woo, preliminary candidate for Boseong County Governor, declared his candidacy on the 4th with the slogan "Strong Boseong, One More Time! Kim Cheol-woo," stating, “As a powerful governor who will usher in the era of a 1 trillion won budget for Boseong County, I will pour all the political capabilities and resources I have built over 35 years of loyalty to the Democratic Party once again into the development of Boseong.”

His main pledges include raising the public interest allowance for farmers and fishermen by 1.2 million won during his term, introducing a 100-won bus fare for youth, establishing kids cafes (in Boseong-eup and Beolgyo-eup), installing broadcasting systems in all households, expanding senior citizen jobs, supporting implant surgery costs, expanding issuance of Boseong Love gift certificates, and supporting small business owners' card fees.

In particular, he stated that he will focus on preparing for the era of 10 million tourists linked with KTX-Eum by creating a tea garden and tea industry theme park, and establishing a marine tourism belt extending from Beolgyo to Hoecheon.

He also added that he will responsibly complete the 1 trillion won scale three major SOC and five New Deal projects started in the 7th local government.

Mr. Kim (male, 58) from Boseong-eup, who plans to visit Kim Cheol-woo’s campaign office to show support, said, “Kim Cheol-woo is the most accomplished governor so far who has done the most for Boseong’s development. He must be elected one more time, and I believe the residents of Boseong will overwhelmingly support him again this time.”

Meanwhile, preliminary candidate Kim Cheol-woo was elected as the youngest local council member nationwide, served three terms as a member of the Boseong County Council, and was chairman for four years. He was elected as Boseong County Governor in the 7th local government in 2018.
