KCC Prepares Detailed Standards for Enforcement Penalties of the 'In-App Payment Mandate Prohibition Act'

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jun-yi] The Korea Communications Commission (KCC) announced that it has prepared detailed guidelines for the imposition of enforcement fines related to the so-called 'In-App Payment Mandate Prohibition Act' (the amended Telecommunications Business Act).

On the 6th, the KCC held its 16th committee meeting and reported on the establishment of the Enforcement Fine Imposition Detailed Guidelines, which specify concrete matters such as the criteria for imposing enforcement fines, prior notification procedures, and objection procedures against enforcement fine imposition decisions.

The KCC decided to notify businesses of the enforcement fine imposition in advance before the scheduled imposition date and to provide the subjects of the fines with an opportunity to submit their opinions in writing.

The guidelines also include provisions allowing businesses that receive enforcement fine imposition decisions to file objections within 30 days from the date of the decision.

On the same day, the KCC also approved a proposal ordering Magum Co., Ltd., which holds a 32.5% stake in Daegu MBC, to dispose of the relevant shares.
