[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Hyun-seok] Korea Airports Corporation announced on the 6th that it conducted special safety inspections at seven international airports nationwide to expedite the resumption of international flights and the rapid recovery of passenger demand in line with the easing of COVID-19 quarantine measures.
President Yoon Hyung-jung and the former management team led the field operations in accordance with the relaxation of entry requirements in Europe and the Americas and the phased normalization of international flight operations. From the 25th of last month until this day, they inspected the safety management status and compliance of all facilities at the seven international airports nationwide, including terminal facilities, runway pavement conditions, architectural, mechanical, and electrical equipment, as well as vehicles and equipment in transit areas.
They also checked each airport’s quarantine measures, passenger convenience facility management status, identity verification, security screening, and security systems. Thorough preparations are being made to ensure that travelers can use the airports safely and comfortably as the number of airport users increases.
President Yoon Hyung-jung stated, “Through this inspection, we will accelerate ESSG management by securing ‘safety,’ the foundation of the best airport service,” adding, “We will establish the best quarantine and safety posture and build a cooperative system with the aviation industry to advance the post-COVID era through the early recovery of international flight operations.”
