Sports and Leisure Category Annual Transaction Amount Surpasses 122 Billion Won... 115% Growth Compared to Previous Year
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Cheol-hyun] Bungaejangter (CEO Lee Jae-hoo) announced on the 6th that the annual transaction amount in the sports and leisure category last year increased by about 115% compared to the previous year, surpassing 122 billion KRW. The transaction amount from January to March this year also reached about 43.5 billion KRW, continuing the high growth trend from the previous year.
In particular, the number of buyers and transaction amounts of the MZ (Millennial + Generation Z) generation in the first quarter increased by 41% and 87%, respectively, compared to the same period last year. Among leisure items for the MZ generation, bicycles recorded the highest transaction volume. As of the first quarter of this year, bicycle transaction amounts and transaction counts increased by 82% and 33%, respectively, compared to the same period last year.
The transaction amount and transaction count in the golf category for the MZ generation also recorded explosive growth, increasing by approximately 187% and 112%, respectively, compared to the same period last year. It is analyzed that the used golf market is growing as a golf craze centered on the MZ generation allows purchasing various products at reasonable prices. The sales of 'S-Bridge,' a used golf equipment trading platform acquired in March last year, also grew by about 104% compared to 2020, before the acquisition. The transaction amount and transaction count in the camping category also increased by 162% and 87%, respectively, compared to the same period last year.
Choi Jae-hwa, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Bungaejangter, said, "Bungaejangter is focusing on establishing secondhand trading not just as a simple act of buying and selling used items but as a means to find hobbies and tastes," adding, "Since we have internalized hobby and taste trading as Bungaejangter's DNA, we plan to introduce differentiated services so that various taste-based transactions can continue to take place."
