[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] A man in his 50s who tried to set fire to his regular bar out of anger over his lover's frequent outings was arrested by the police.
The Gwangju Dongbu Police Station announced on the 6th that they arrested a man in his 50s, Mr. A, on charges including attempted arson of a dwelling.
Mr. A is suspected of attempting to set fire to a karaoke hall in Dong-gu around 1:30 PM on the 2nd.
He carried a 17L container filled with flammable material and lingered at the entrance of the karaoke hall waiting for business to start. When the police arrived following a witness's report, he fled.
Around 10 PM the previous day, he returned to the karaoke hall, disrupted business, and caused a disturbance.
Investigations revealed that he acted this way because his lover frequently drank with others at the karaoke hall.
The police obtained an arrest warrant and caught Mr. A, who was on the run, that morning. They plan to apply for a detention warrant after clarifying the details of the crime.
