Yoon Meets German Ambassador... Holds Meeting with City and Provincial Governors President-elect Yoon Suk-yeol


[Asia Economy Reporter Buaeri] President-elect Yoon Seok-yeol will meet with Michael Reiffenstuel, the German Ambassador to Korea, on the morning of the 6th.


Baehyun-jin, the spokesperson for the President-elect, stated at a briefing at the Presidential Transition Committee in Tongui-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul, "We will express our gratitude for the congratulatory message sent in advance by German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier." Attending the meeting will be Kim Seong-han, the secretary of the Foreign Affairs and Security Subcommittee of the Transition Committee, and Kim Hong-gyun, a senior advisor.


Spokesperson Bae explained, "Germany is one of the very few countries in the world that shares the unique experience of division and is a key ally sharing core values of liberal democracy and market economy," adding, "During his term, President-elect Yoon will seek and promise ways to continue and develop strong cooperation between Korea and Germany."


President-elect Yoon is expected to discuss responses to the North Korean nuclear issue, climate change, renewable energy, science and technology, and future industries, as well as cooperation between Korea and Germany.


Regarding discussions on the joint development of hypersonic weapons with the United States, the United Kingdom, and Australia, Spokesperson Bae said, "There is no plan to discuss specific news items first," adding, "They will share broad cooperation."


In the afternoon, a meeting with the Council of Governors will be held. President-elect Yoon will meet with Kim Byung-joon, chairman of the Special Committee on Regional Balanced Development, and 17 provincial governors to express his commitment to fulfilling promises related to regional balanced development.


Spokesperson Bae said, "President-elect Yoon has a strong determination that the answer is always on the ground," adding, "He plans to share the voices from the field with the governors and discuss how to resolve the long-standing issues of regional balanced development in the Republic of Korea together."
