[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heeyoon] A concert featuring familiar classical music and animation such as "The Carnival of the Animals" and "The Nutcracker" for children and families is coming.

Sejong Center for the Performing Arts announced on the 5th that it will hold "Orchestra Journey," a children's and family performance with the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra, on May 28 at the Sejong Center Grand Theater.

"Orchestra Journey" will feature pieces familiar from elementary school textbooks, including Saint-Sa?ns' "The Carnival of the Animals" and Tchaikovsky's "The Nutcracker." The conductor will be Wilson Ng, the principal assistant conductor of the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra. Pianists Won Jaeyeon (runner-up at the 2017 Busoni Competition) and Lee Hyoju (2nd place at the 2010 Geneva Competition) will also perform.

This stage is the first program of the Sejong Center's planned performance series "Sejong Children's Series." Along with a 3D animation screening, Son Taejin, a member of the crossover group Forte di Quattro and a vocalist, will provide an educational commentary session explaining the orchestra and instruments before the performance. The concert will present pieces that are easy to appreciate for both children and adults with refined performances.

The animation for the performance was specially produced to match the program. Various characters from "The Carnival of the Animals" and "The Nutcracker" appear three-dimensionally on a giant screen, enhancing the concentration of the young audience.

Sejong Center President Ahn Hosang said, "Large-scale children's and family performances had been on hold for a while due to COVID-19, but 'Orchestra Journey' will be the most suitable program for family audiences to enjoy a performance and spring outing during Family Month."
