Jeongeup-si and SK Nexilis Promote Local Youth Support Project

[Jeongeup=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jaegil] Jeongeup City in Jeonbuk Province and SK Nexilis announced on the 5th that they will promote the Joy’n Jeongeup local youth support project to help local youth become independent and settle down.

Joy’n Jeongeup is a local rediscovery revitalization project jointly promoted by Jeongeup City and SK Nexilis for the win-win development of the local community.

This project supports education and consulting related to startups, operation of shared stores, and initial funds for youth startups to improve the operational experience and know-how of young entrepreneurs and strengthen their independence capabilities.

The city started the ‘Joy’n Jeongeup Local Youth Startup Education’ at the Youth Support Center on the same day.

Before the education, the city selected a total of 22 local youth (prospective) entrepreneurs aged 18 to 39 in 14 teams through open recruitment online and offline over the past two months.

The education consists of a common program specialized in local startup and individual 1:1 customized coaching, and will be conducted both online and offline every Tuesday for a total of 10 weeks until June.

The city plans to assign dedicated coaches to the trainees to provide customized coaching not only for discovering business items but also for business advancement and product/service development processes.

The education is hosted by Underdogs, a startup specialized education institution and a partner company of SK Nexilis.

Youth who complete the education will be able to use the Joy’n Jeongeup shared office (Shared Store No. 3) located near the Samgoeul Market, scheduled to be completed this month, free of charge for six months.

After the education, excellent completion teams will be selected through evaluation, and outstanding teams will be provided with customized startup consulting hosted by the Youth Support Center and opportunities to enter SK Nexilis Joy’n Jeongeup shared stores.

In addition, various follow-up projects will be linked and supported, such as providing youth startup funds of up to 15 million KRW over three years using the Jeongeup City Youth Development Fund.

Lee Yong-gwan, Director of Growth Strategy, said, “Through the Jeongeup-type youth startup package support project, we will expand the base of the youth startup ecosystem and actively respond to the crisis of local extinction by establishing a stable foundation for capable youth to settle in the region.”
