Plan to Participate in Primary Election After Joining People Power Party
[Asia Economy Reporter Naju-seok] Attorney Kang Yong-seok declared his candidacy for governor of Gyeonggi Province on the 4th, saying, "I will fulfill the unachieved dreams of former President Park Geun-hye." Kang expressed his intention to join the People Power Party and challenge the primary election.
On the same day, Kang announced his candidacy for governor of Gyeonggi Province at a press conference in front of Seryu Station in Suwon, where Suwon Airfield is located.
He introduced the fact that former President Park mentioned after arriving at her residence in Daegu, "I believe the dreams I could not achieve as president are now the responsibility of others," and said, "I, Kang Yong-seok, will fulfill the unachieved dreams of President Park Geun-hye in Gyeonggi Province." He positioned himself as a candidate supported by the former president.
Kang promised to relocate Suwon Airfield, Seongnam Airport, and Gwacheon Racecourse. He stated, "I will clear away the three major nuisances hindering the development of Gyeonggi Province," adding, "By removing Suwon Airfield, Seongnam Airfield, and Gwacheon Racecourse, I will turn Suwon, Seongnam, and Gwacheon into opportunities for groundbreaking development." He also pledged to declare a special regulatory innovation zone (tentative name) in several selected areas within the province, including the sites freed from these nuisances, to maximize their potential.
Furthermore, he pledged, "I will complete the GTX Line A during my term and definitely start construction on Lines B and C."
In addition, he promised to revitalize reconstruction and redevelopment, strengthen excellence in elementary, middle, and high school education to secure competitiveness in public education, and attract capital through deregulation.
A representative from Kang's camp said, "He submitted his application to join the People Power Party on the day," adding, "There are no legal or party rule issues, so his admission is expected to proceed smoothly." Kang plans to run in the People Power Party's primary election for governor of Gyeonggi Province after joining the party.
