15 Guaranteed Coverage Items, Overlapping Compensation Possible Regardless of Other Insurance
[Goheung=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Shim Jeong-woo] On the 4th, Goheung-gun, Jeollanam-do announced that it has enrolled in the "Citizen Safety Insurance" again this year to stabilize the lives of residents who suffer damage from unforeseen disasters and accidents in daily life.
Citizen Safety Insurance is a system that allows insured persons to receive insurance payments through an insurance company contracted with Goheung-gun in case of an accident.
All residents registered and residing in Goheung-gun (including registered foreigners) are automatically enrolled in the insurance without separate subscription procedures or premium payments. Overlapping compensation is possible regardless of individual other insurance subscriptions, and the coverage period is one year, from April 1, 2022, to March 31, 2023.
The main coverage items include ▲death from natural disasters (including heatstroke, sunstroke, and cold wave), ▲death and sequelae from explosion, fire, and collapse injuries, ▲death and sequelae from injuries while using public transportation, ▲death and sequelae from injuries while using chartered buses, ▲death by drowning accidents, ▲death and sequelae from robbery injuries, ▲death and sequelae from agricultural machinery injuries, ▲school zone traffic accident injury treatment expenses, ▲death from infectious diseases, and ▲emergency room treatment expenses for dog bite accidents, totaling 15 items.
The coverage amount supports up to 20 million KRW for death and sequelae, but in the case of death and sequelae while using chartered buses, insurance payments are made within a limit of 10 million KRW. Especially, this year, two new items were added: death from infectious diseases (10 million KRW) and emergency room treatment expenses for dog bite accidents (500,000 KRW), expanding the scope of coverage benefits.
Insurance claims can be made by the affected resident or legal heir by submitting relevant supporting documents to the Korea Local Finance Association when the claim event occurs. The claim expiration period is three years from the date of the accident.
An official from the county said, "We will continue to promote and guide the Citizen Safety Insurance so that residents can receive insurance benefits from unexpected disasters and accidents."
