Jinju-si, Apply for Basic Direct Payment... Limited to Farmers Engaged in Farming Directly Until May 31

Jinju-si, Apply for Basic Direct Payment... Limited to Farmers Engaged in Farming Directly Until May 31 Jinju City Hall.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Jinju City, Gyeongnam Province, will accept in-person applications for the Basic Public Interest Direct Payment this year. Applications will be accepted at the township and town offices and the dong administrative welfare centers from the 4th until May 31.

The Basic Direct Payment is a system that provides subsidies to farmers to promote public interests such as environmental conservation, maintenance of rural communities, and food security through agricultural activities.

Farmers who wish to receive the Basic Direct Payment must submit a registration application and related documents annually to the township and town offices or dong administrative welfare centers where their farmland is located. If the non-face-to-face online simple application introduced this year is completed, there is no need to submit a separate in-person application.

The applicants must be farmers who actually cultivate the eligible farmland. However, those with a comprehensive income amount of 37 million KRW or more outside of agriculture, those with eligible farmland area less than 1,000㎡, and those who have received farmland disposal orders are excluded.

The Basic Direct Payment is divided into Small-scale Farmer Direct Payment for small-scale farms that meet requirements such as eligible farmland area of 5,000㎡ or less and at least 3 years of farming and rural residence, and Area Direct Payment for other farmers.

The Small-scale Farmer Direct Payment provides 1.2 million KRW annually per farm regardless of area, while the Area Direct Payment provides 1 million to 2.05 million KRW per hectare of eligible farmland area.

To apply, submit the project application form and required documents to the township and town offices or dong administrative welfare centers where the farmland is located by May 31.

It is important to apply only for the eligible farmland that the applicant actually cultivates, and to exclude from the application area any fallow land such as buildings where crops cannot be grown, parking lots, and graves, which must be recorded on the application form.

Also, if cultivating leased farmland, a lease contract and supporting documents must be submitted. The direct payment is expected to be paid after compliance inspection in November this year.
