[AKYUNG Poll] Yoo Seung-min Ranks First in Suitability Among People Power Party Gyeonggi Province Governor Primary Candidates

[Asia Economy Reporter Naju-seok] Former lawmaker Yoo Seung-min was found to be the most suitable candidate among the People Power Party’s Gyeonggi Province governor candidates.

According to a public opinion poll conducted by Realmeter commissioned by Asia Economy targeting 1,009 men and women aged 18 and over in Gyeonggi Province (automated response telephone survey method, 90% mobile, 10% landline), former lawmaker Yoo was selected as the most suitable figure with 38.2% among the expected candidates for the People Power Party’s Gyeonggi Province governor.

Former lawmaker Yoon Hee-sook ranked second with 10.8%, Kim Eun-hye, spokesperson for President-elect Yoon Seok-yeol, ranked third with 10.1%, former National Assembly Deputy Speaker Shim Jae-cheol ranked fourth with 6.4%, and other figures accounted for 7.7%. The undecided group was 26.6% (none 21.0%, don’t know 5.6%).

Even when limited to People Power Party supporters, former lawmaker Yoo received 46.3% support, ranking first. Following him, former lawmaker Yoon was second with 17.8%, Kim was third with 15.0%, and former Deputy Speaker Shim was 6.7%.

Former lawmaker Yoo also ranked first regardless of generation, gender, political orientation, or residential area.

▶How was the survey conducted? This survey was conducted by Realmeter on behalf of Asia Economy from April 1 (Friday) to April 2 (Saturday). They attempted to contact 77,535 voters aged 18 and over in Gyeonggi Province, with a final 1,009 respondents completing the survey, resulting in a response rate of 1.3%. The survey was conducted using an automated response method with 90% mobile and 10% landline calls, using a random digit dialing method based on a randomly generated sampling frame. Statistical adjustments were made using rim weighting by gender, age group, and region based on the Ministry of the Interior and Safety’s resident registration population statistics as of the end of February 2022. The sampling error is ±3.1 percentage points at a 95% confidence level.
