[Asia Economy (Daejeon) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] The Public Procurement Service (PPS) announced on the 4th that it will visualize and provide public procurement market information data by item traded through the Korea ON-line E-Procurement System (KONEPS).
According to the PPS, the total amount of goods contracts concluded through KONEPS last year was 48.8 trillion KRW, accounting for 40.7% of the total public procurement contract amount (120 trillion KRW). In particular, the contract amount within KONEPS has shown an annual average increase of 9.7% each year since recording 33.7 trillion KRW in 2017.
The visualization service to be provided based on this is expected to be used by procurement companies wishing to supply goods to KONEPS, related associations, and research institutions to understand the size of the public procurement market for goods and the competitive status.
The visualization service will provide comprehensive disclosure by dividing procurement goods into 15,245 detailed item names, including ▲ the number of KONEPS registered companies by company type (MAS, Excellent Products, General, etc.) ▲ contract performance nationwide and by region ▲ status of top companies by contract amount.
Above all, the PPS explained that the main data will be visualized through graphs and maps and implemented as a responsive web service so that users can intuitively utilize related information.
The visualization service is available in the ‘Participation Square - Data Room’ of the big data-based procurement decision support system.
Kang Kyung-hoon, Director of the Procurement Management Bureau at the PPS, said, “The visualization service will make it easier to pre-check blue and red ocean markets by product classification, which is expected to help procurement companies establish business strategies,” and added, “The PPS will continue to develop various visualization services and big data analysis materials to support rational decision-making by procurement companies.”
