Angel Robotics Co., Ltd. (CEO Gong Kyung-chul), a company specializing in rehabilitation and healthcare wearable robots, announced that it has delivered the AngelX M Small walking rehabilitation wearable robot to the Purme Foundation Nexu Children's Rehabilitation Hospital.
Purme Foundation Nexu Children's Rehabilitation Hospital (Director Kim Yoon-tae), opened in 2016, is the first and only specialized children's rehabilitation hospital in Korea, providing diverse and systematic integrated rehabilitation medical services across physical, cognitive, and emotional domains throughout the life cycle. With the introduction of the AngelX M Small, Purme Foundation Nexu Children's Rehabilitation Hospital has become the seventh hospital nationwide to possess the AngelX M Small, following Shinchon Severance Rehabilitation Hospital, Seoul Rehabilitation Hospital, Yongin Severance Hospital, Chungnam National University Hospital, Chonnam National University Hospital, and Hwaseong Dongtan Ardim Welfare Center.
The AngelX M is a wearable walking rehabilitation robot that assists gait training for patients with lower limb paralysis caused by neuromuscular diseases such as cerebral palsy, spinal cord injury, stroke, spina bifida, developmental disabilities, and muscular dystrophy. Unlike conventional rehabilitation robots that move on a treadmill following a pre-programmed trajectory, the AngelX M operates using an 'overground method' where patients shift their own weight and step directly on the ground during gait training. It assists patients with the necessary amount of force, increasing patient engagement and enhancing rehabilitation training effectiveness. The AngelX M includes six built-in training programs consisting of standing, sitting, standing up, flat ground walking, stair climbing, and squats. The assistive force can be adjusted in 20 levels according to the patient's functional status, enabling optimized training tailored to the patient's condition.
Angel Robotics CEO Gong Kyung-chul stated, “Considering that there are about 600 hospitals nationwide with rehabilitation medicine departments, the distribution rate of AngelX M, including both large and small models, is about 2%. We will strive to introduce AngelX M to more rehabilitation hospitals so that cutting-edge walking therapy using rehabilitation robots can be easily accessible anywhere.”
