[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyesook] Yoo Jeong-bok, a preliminary candidate from the People Power Party who declared his candidacy for the Incheon mayoral election in the June 1 local elections, emphasized creating a new Incheon by promoting three major balanced development and growth projects across regions, social classes, and generations.
According to Yoo's campaign headquarters on the 3rd, Yoo officially entered the party primary system by holding the 'Jeongbok Camp' opening ceremony on the 31st of last month. He announced three key initiatives for Incheon's development to the 3 million citizens: ▲ balanced regional development ▲ balanced development among social classes ▲ balanced development among generations.
As a strategy for balanced regional development, he proposed resolving urban division and promoting balanced growth through the underground construction of the Gyeongin Railway and Gyeongin Expressway, as well as advancing the Incheon Urban Railway Line 3 circular railway. He also highlighted expanding parking spaces, cultural and sports facilities, and the groundbreaking promotion of redevelopment and reconstruction projects.
He pledged to promote balanced growth among social classes with policies that go beyond consideration for the disabled, multicultural families, and low-income groups, and to create a society where the elderly and veterans' families live comfortably and the youth have hope, achieving balanced growth among generations.
Furthermore, he unveiled a grand vision blueprint for Incheon, attracting attention from political and economic circles.
Yoo proposed projects such as building the 'New Hong Kong City' to transform Yeongjong and Ganghwa Islands into financial cities like Hong Kong, pursuing the construction of a 341 km Korea-China undersea tunnel, and attracting the UN headquarters to contribute to security on the Korean Peninsula and world peace.
To this end, a 'Yoo Jeong-bok Think Tank' group composed of experts from politics, administration, academia, and the economy has been formed by sector to establish concrete implementation plans and strategies.
Yoo stated, "Projects cannot be accomplished by will and ideas alone; only someone who has experience and has delivered results, like myself Yoo Jeong-bok, can make it happen," emphasizing his strong determination to act. "When Yoo Jeong-bok makes a promise, it becomes reality."
Meanwhile, the first election countermeasures committee of Yoo Jeong-bok's campaign is composed of practical professionals with expertise.
Above all, political and administrative advisors who have directly implemented citizen-centered policies in Incheon's political circles and a fresh election strategy brain group aligned with the digital MZ generation code have been placed at the forefront.
A campaign official stated, "This Incheon mayoral election focuses on widely promoting Yoo Jeong-bok's pledges to show 'courage' and 'hope' to citizens exhausted by COVID-19, and sincerely presenting the candidate who serves the citizens as they are." He added, "We will also demonstrate a calm and innovative election campaign to contribute to an advanced election culture."
