[Asia Economy Reporter Jeon Jinyoung] On the 3rd at 3:23 PM, a wildfire broke out on a hill in Hwangsang-dong, Gumi-si, Gyeongbuk, and was extinguished in about an hour.
Forest authorities deployed two firefighting helicopters and 46 firefighters, completing the extinguishing around 4:29 PM. The Korea Forest Service plans to clarify the cause of the fire and the damage area through investigation and inspection.
An official from the Central Wildfire Prevention Headquarters said, "With the dry weather continuing, even a small spark can lead to a wildfire," and urged, "Please refrain from burning activities inside the forest."
