April 1st, 2 PM Non-Face-to-Face Online Regular General Meeting Held with 22 Member Autonomous Organizations Participating; Review and Approval of 2021 Business Settlement and 2022 Business Plan; Promotion of Projects Including White Paper Production, Excellent Reading Program Contest, Workshop, and Forum
[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yu Seong-hoon) announced that it held the regular general meeting of the National Book Reading Cities Association on April 1.
The National Book Reading Cities Association, with Geumcheon-gu as the chair city, is an organization founded in 2018 to promote a reading culture and create a book-reading community society by enhancing exchange and cooperation among book-reading cities nationwide. A total of 27 local governments across the country are participating.
This regular general meeting was held as a non-face-to-face online video conference to prevent the spread of COVID-19. After reporting on the progress so far, 22 member local governments attended and deliberated and approved the 2021 business settlement and the 2022 business plan.
Starting with the regular general meeting held on this day, the National Book Reading Cities Association plans to produce a white paper that records activities over the past four years and various reading policies preparing for the future in the With-Corona era, and from April, it will conduct a contest for excellent reading programs targeting member local governments.
Also, in September, a workshop will be held in Wonju, Gangwon-do, where the Korea Reading Expo will take place, and in October, along with the extraordinary general meeting, a "Forum for the Expansion of Book Reading Culture" will be held.
Yu Seong-hoon, Mayor of Geumcheon-gu, said, "Through the forum held last year, we had time to reflect on the direction of book-reading cities," and added, "We will continue to make efforts to foster a book-reading culture together with member cities of the National Book Reading Cities Association."
