6.5 Billion KRW Support Over 3 Years
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yeo Jong-gu] Daegu City is set to actively promote a support project for the independence of deinstitutionalized persons with disabilities.
The city was finally selected in the Ministry of Health and Welfare’s “Pilot Project for Community Independence Support for Deinstitutionalized Persons with Disabilities” to support the independence of persons with disabilities in the community.
The pilot project period is three years, from this year through 2024, with a total of 650 million KRW in national funding provided.
Until now, the deinstitutionalized persons with disabilities independence support project, which Daegu City had been promoting independently, will now receive national funding, establishing a stable operational foundation.
The main project contents include ▲providing independence support personnel and improving residential environments ▲supporting relocation costs such as household goods purchase expenses ▲providing settlement support funds ▲offering activity support services ▲supporting health checkup expenses ▲purchasing assistive devices.
Also, this year, the city will establish the “Daegu Disability Deinstitutionalization Support Center,” a specialized institution for systematic support of deinstitutionalized persons with disabilities, aligning with the government’s deinstitutionalization policy to build a sustainable foundation.
