[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Yoo Young-ha, the legal representative of former President Park Geun-hye, officially declared his candidacy for the mayor of Daegu on the 1st.

Yoo Young-ha stated, "Former President Park will serve as the chairperson of the support committee," signaling that the Daegu mayoral election landscape is expected to shift once again.

On the 1st, Yoo Young-ha announced his candidacy at the 5th-floor auditorium of the People Power Party Daegu City Party Office in Suseong-gu, Daegu, saying, "After much contemplation, asking myself what and why I should run, I have decided to run."

He expressed his intention to run, saying, "With the consistent image I have shown over the past five years, I will walk straight for my hometown Daegu. I will repay with trust that does not betray through actions, not words."

With Yoo Young-ha's candidacy, attention is focused on whether former President Park will directly release a message. According to Yoo, since former President Park will take the role of support committee chairperson, supportive statements and assistance are expected to follow.

Yoo stated, "The support committee will be established soon," and "The President has agreed to serve as the chairperson of the support committee," he announced that day.

He also said, "If the President had discouraged or been worried, I would have withdrawn my decision."

Yoo said he informed former President Park of the candidacy press conference at 11 a.m. and received the reply, "Do well," indicating that he obtained Park's support and consent for his candidacy.

Regarding whether former President Park will campaign in support, Yoo said, "Although it might seem that her health has improved considerably, that is not the case. On the day she moved into her residence, she overexerted herself and took considerable rest."

Yoo also mentioned the possibility of indirect campaign support from former President Park through a "letter" or "video."
