Gurye-gun, Reopening of New Tainneunghae Gurye Hope Sharing Store

Recruiting Various Donation Items, Resuming Operations from the 5th of Next Month

[Gurye=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Yuk Miseok] On the 31st, Gurye-gun, Jeollanam-do, and the Gurye-gun Community Social Security Council announced that the ‘New Tainneunghae Gurye Hope Sharing Store’ will resume operations from the 5th of next month.

The Gurye Hope Sharing Store is a project operated by the Gurye-gun Community Social Security Council through the Jeonnam Social Welfare Community Chest public contest. Local residents donate food items, daily necessities, etc., and disadvantaged neighbors such as basic livelihood security recipients and lower-income groups can use 2 to 3 items free of charge once a month.

Since its operation began in June last year, the Hope Sharing Store has received donations of items such as toilet paper, sesame oil, pillows, and eggs from a total of 50 individuals and organizations. A total of 1,937 disadvantaged neighbors, including basic livelihood security recipients, have used the store, leading the spread of a sharing culture within the region.

In particular, unlike the previous method of unilaterally distributing sponsored goods, users were able to directly select and use only the items they needed within a certain range, which received much positive feedback.

Additionally, by conducting user satisfaction surveys and addressing shortcomings, the council plans to actively discover new donors and recruit various sponsored goods to broaden the range of choices for users.

Kim Sunho, Gurye-gun Governor (Co-chairman of the Gurye-gun Community Social Security Council), said, “I am pleased that the Gurye Hope Sharing Store is able to operate again with the help and interest of many people. As it is a precious space that continues Gurye’s Tainneunghae spirit, I ask for much interest so that it can be maintained as a representative space where neighbors live together.”

The Hope Sharing Store will operate every Tuesday from 10 a.m. to around 4 p.m., the same as the previous operating hours.

Welfare and self-support counseling rooms will also be operated concurrently, allowing users to receive customized welfare counseling if desired. For sponsorship inquiries, please contact the Gurye-gun Community Social Security Council.
