Hanjayeon Opens 'Small Giant Special Zone 1st Campus' in Cheonan-Asan, Chungnam

[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Hyun-seok] The Korea Automotive Technology Institute (KATRI) announced on the 31st that it held the 'Opening Ceremony of the Gangso Special Zone 1st Campus and Meeting with Resident Companies' at the Gangso Special Zone 1st Campus located in Asan, Chungnam.

The event was attended by about 30 officials, including Na Seung-sik, President of KATRI; Oh Se-hyun, Mayor of Asan; Kim Mi-young, Asan City Council member; An Jang-heon, Chungcheongnam-do Provincial Assembly member; Yoo Jae-ryong, Director of Chungcheongnam-do Future Industry Bureau; Park Chan-jong, Cheonan City Future Strategy Division head; Oh Mi-hye, Director of KATRI Gangso Special Zone Campus; as well as representatives of research institute companies and startup companies.

The opening ceremony began with greetings from key attendees such as Mayor Oh Se-hyun of Asan, followed by ▲ Presentation on the progress of establishing the Gangso Special Zone 1st Campus (Presenter: Oh Mi-hye, Director of Gangso Special Zone Campus), ▲ Meeting with resident companies, ▲ Tour of the 1st Campus facilities, ▲ Tape-cutting and commemorative photo session.

The newly established Gangso Special Zone 1st Campus overcomes the distance between KATRI, the core technology institution of the Gangso Special Zone, and the surrounding areas (Asan Tangjeong, Cheonan Buldang). To expand space for attracting and nurturing companies, Chungnam Province, Asan City, and KATRI jointly invested a total budget of 470 million KRW to create this resident facility.

KATRI plans to attract and intensively nurture research institute companies and technology startups at the 1st Campus, actively producing promising companies that will innovate the regional industry. Through this, it is expected that the Chungnam Cheonan-Asan Gangso Special Zone will be able to take a significant leap forward.

Na Seung-sik, President of KATRI, said, “We have prepared a new resident space to foster research institute companies and technology startups within the Gangso Special Zone. We will strive to support the innovative growth of companies through close communication and support between the core technology institution and resident companies.”
