[Asia Economy Reporter Jin-ho Kim] Germany has issued an early warning for a gas supply emergency after refusing Russia's demand for payment in rubles for gas.

According to major foreign media on the 30th, Robert Habeck, Germany's Vice Chancellor and Minister for Economic Affairs and Climate Action, told reporters that the gas storage facilities in Germany are only 25% full.

He said the "early warning" measure is the first of three alert stages and announced the establishment of an emergency task force to strengthen gas supply inspections. He explained that this preventive measure was taken after Russia passed a law requiring payment for gas sales in rubles despite rejection by the Group of Seven (G7) countries.

Previously, Russia warned that if Europe refuses to pay for gas in rubles, it would lead to a suspension of gas supplies.
