Andong-si, International Conference Promotion Team Launch Ceremony ... 1st Report Meeting Held

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Gui-yeol] Andong City, Gyeongbuk Province, held the inauguration ceremony of the International Conference Promotion Team and the 1st briefing session at Andong City Hall on the 28th to successfully host the 16th Andong International Education City Union World Congress and the 18th World Historical Cities Conference to be held this year.

To efficiently prepare for these two major international conferences this year, the city has organized the International Conference Promotion Team consisting of 4 divisions, 10 teams, and 23 departments, led by the vice mayor. They plan to consolidate the capabilities of each department to ensure systematic preparation by field and successfully lead the international conferences.

The Andong International Education City Union World Congress, held under the theme "Viewing Future Education from Tradition," will take place for four days from October 25 to 28 at the Andong International Convention Center. It is the world's largest education-related international conference, with about 2,000 attendees including mayors from 500 member cities in 35 countries.

The 18th World Historical Cities Conference will be attended by about 400 mayors from 125 member cities in 66 countries. Under the theme "Creating Future Historical Cities through Revitalization of Local Communities," it will be held for three days from November 14 to 16 around the Andong International Convention Center.

Mayor Kwon Young-se of Andong said, "Since this international event was difficult to attract during the COVID-19 era, the International Conference Promotion Team should make thorough preparations to successfully hold the conferences," and added, "I ask that efforts be made so that Andong, a global cultural tourism city, can take a new leap forward and contribute to the revitalization of various industries such as culture, tourism, and the MICE industry."
