[Naju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yukbong] Naju City, Jeollanam-do announced that starting from the 28th, it will conduct face-to-face COVID-19 consultations at Bitgaram General Hospital to manage confirmed COVID-19 cases and prevent community spread.
Bitgaram General Hospital has established a negative pressure facility on the 3rd floor of the building dedicated to face-to-face consultations and inpatient treatment for confirmed cases, due to the increase in home treatment patients following the spread of the Omicron variant of COVID-19.
In particular, in addition to consultations and hospitalization, dialysis beds for dialysis patients diagnosed with COVID-19 have been prepared in the basement of the building, which is expected to alleviate the difficulties of patients who had to travel long hours to hospitals in other regions for dialysis treatment.
Hemodialysis is a medical procedure that filters and removes waste products from the blood inside the body and returns the cleaned blood back into the body.
If kidney function is impaired, waste products in the blood cannot be expelled outside the body, leading to dangerous symptoms such as uremia.
If dialysis is not received in time, various waste products accumulate in the blood, making regular dialysis essential.
Bitgaram General Hospital conducts face-to-face consultations by prior appointment from Monday to Friday, between 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.
For hemodialysis, it will be safely operated three times a week (Monday, Wednesday, Friday) with thorough infection control.
A resident of Bitgaram-dong who is a dialysis patient, Mr. A, said, “Until now, I had to visit dedicated hospitals one by one for dialysis, but I am grateful to the medical staff of Bitgaram General Hospital who stepped up for the health of local residents.”
Seo Hyunseung, director of Naju City Public Health Center, said, “We thank the hospital medical staff who cooperated so that dialysis patients who are confirmed cases can receive hemodialysis promptly,” and added, “We will do our best to expand dedicated hospitals and manage quarantine for citizen safety until the end of COVID-19.”
