Medium's ultra-fast blockchain has entered Busan City, successfully taking its first step in the blockchain special zone. On the 24th, Medium announced that it participated in the opening ceremony of the blockchain venture convention b-space held at the Busan International Finance Center (BIFC).
B-space is a blockchain-specialized venture convention for fostering related venture companies in Busan City, the first blockchain special zone designated in Korea. Based on the Ministry of SMEs and Startups' 'Regional Innovation Startup Activation' project, a total of 3.5 billion KRW was invested.
At the opening ceremony of B-space, about 20 representatives from resident companies including Medium attended, along with Park Hyung-joon, Mayor of Busan, Shin Sang-hae, Chairman of Busan City Council, Choi Won-young, Head of Busan Regional Small and Medium Venture Business Administration, and Kim Hyung-gyun, Director of Busan Technopark, to share execution strategies for creating a blockchain-specialized cluster.
Regarding the establishment of B-space, Medium explained that it also holds great significance in laying a solid foundation for the BIBC (Busan International Blockchain Business Center) established in February through an agreement with Busan City and others. BIBC is an international business center for creating a blockchain industrial complex in Busan Metropolitan City, a blockchain special zone. Through the participation of 15 global innovative companies, it aims to support research, technology development, and investment for blockchain industry advancement and to create an ecosystem to revitalize blockchain business in the Busan area. Busan City plans to promote step-by-step the creation of ▲ blockchain startup hub B-space ▲ blockchain technology innovation support center ▲ blockchain convergence research innovation center by 2027, centered on B-space.
Medium, which plays a pivotal role in B-space, plans to provide an 'ultra-fast blockchain open platform' to various industrial sectors such as marine ports, distribution, logistics, and traditional markets in the Busan area, contributing to the technological advancement of traditional industries and the establishment and activation of the blockchain ecosystem. To this end, Medium will make every effort, including supporting world-class blockchain core technology and deploying key research personnel.
Chairman Kim Pan-jong of Medium said, “I am pleased to be part of the first step that can contribute to strengthening Busan's core blockchain capabilities. Based on world-class core technology, Medium will devote itself to developing the ‘ultra-fast blockchain open platform,’ which will be the foundation of Busan City's blockchain ecosystem. Through this, we expect Busan City to become the world's best innovative blockchain special zone, surpassing Switzerland and Dubai.”
