[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyemin] The Presidential Transition Committee (Transition Committee) received a report from the Ministry of Personnel Management on the establishment of a digital platform government on the 25th.
The Transition Committee stated that it discussed these matters after the Ministry of Personnel Management's briefing on the same day. The briefing was attended by Lee Yong-ho, the secretary of the Political, Judicial, and Administrative Affairs Subcommittee, transition committee members, and expert and working-level committee members. The Ministry of Personnel Management was represented by the deputy minister and directors who delivered the report.
The briefing proceeded in the order of reporting the general status, evaluating the current status of key core policies, and reviewing major national tasks to be promoted by the new government in connection with the president-elect's pledges.
First, the plan to establish a digital platform government, emphasized by President-elect Yoon Seok-yeol, was discussed. In this regard, the Ministry of Personnel Management reported on ▲ selecting and nurturing digital core talents, ▲ building an integrated platform for government-wide recruitment examinations, ▲ digital transformation of the entire government personnel process, and ▲ integration of property disclosure services.
They also reported on plans to shift the civil servant compensation system from a seniority-based system to one reflecting job roles and performance.
The transition committee members urged in-depth discussions on the issue of civil servant staffing. They had also requested efficient personnel reallocation of civil servants during the Ministry of the Interior and Safety briefing the previous day.
The transition committee members asked the Ministry of Personnel Management to prepare innovation plans for realizing a well-functioning government in collaboration with the Ministry of the Interior and Safety. Additionally, they requested the preparation of improvement measures to expand the linkage between the current public service recruitment examinations and other occupational sectors.
The Transition Committee stated, "Based on today's briefing, we plan to select national tasks reflecting the national philosophy and pledges through close discussions with the Ministry of Personnel Management and related agencies and to develop implementation plans."
