Namgil Kim Creates Shared Space 'Art Village'... Leading Support for Creators

[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Isul] Actor Kim Nam-gil is taking the lead in supporting creators by creating shared spaces.

Since last year, Kim Nam-gil has been conducting the creator support campaign 'Art Village' project through the cultural arts NGO Gil Story.

Art Village is a private residence that does not interfere with each creator's individual space and is designed as a community where various people can interact. It aims to be a cultural arts platform where one can experience the beautiful natural scenery and local culture of Dala Village in Tongyeong and share cultural and artistic inspiration and values.

The first Art Village will be established in Dala Village, Tongyeong City, Gyeongsangnam-do. Tongyeong City will remodel five vacant houses in Dala Village and lease them to Gil Story free of charge for five years. The construction process will be revealed on MBC's 'Ramiran's Empty House Stay 2,' which will air for four weeks starting on the 27th.

Gil Story stated, "We aim to create a cultural regeneration-based regional revitalization by establishing this as a regional hub and seek solutions to cultural imbalance between regions and the issue of regional extinction."

Representative Kim Nam-gil said, "I have long thought that talented creators with dreams should not give up those dreams due to environmental factors. We will make Tongyeong Art Village a place where creators can freely rest and comfortably gain inspiration for their creations."

Gil Story plans to actively proceed with the creator support campaign within the year, including recruiting resident artists for Art Village and operating programs. All operational and campaign costs will be covered entirely by donations.

Gil Story is a nonprofit private organization under the Seoul Metropolitan Government, established in 2015 with the purpose of helping neighbors in difficulty based on each person's talents and expertise and creating a world of coexistence.
