[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Hyowon] Cube Entertainment (hereinafter ‘Cube Enter’) and Animoca Brands (hereinafter ‘Animoca’) announced on the 24th that their joint venture, Anicube Entertainment (ANICUBE ENTERTAINMENT LIMITED), will issue its first NFT (Non-Fungible Token).
The first NFT to be issued will be a video NFT utilizing footage of Cube’s artists BTOB, Pentagon, (G)I-DLE, and Lightsum, and an airdrop event (free NFT distribution to users who meet certain conditions) will be held targeting global users.
Detailed information about participation in the airdrop event will be announced on March 24 through Discord and SNS (Twitter, Instagram), and the website where the NFT will be available is scheduled to open on April 5.
As of today, a total of three SNS channels have been launched: Discord, Instagram, and Twitter.
The two companies plan to raise expectations among global fans by releasing NFTs ahead of creating a music metaverse ecosystem, and to increase the value of NFTs through various NFTs and events to be released later.
A Cube Enter official stated, “This airdrop will be the starting point of the music metaverse that Anicube will operate, and various NFTs utilizing Cube’s IP will be continuously released in the future,” adding, “We are pleased to be able to share NFTs not only with users who have experienced existing NFTs but also with K-pop fans.”
Previously, Cube Enter announced the K-Verse project to globally spread K-culture through a partnership with The Sandbox, and has been actively pursuing specific activities to build a blockchain ecosystem, including participating in the Series A investment round of BNV (Brand New Vision), a fashion NFT platform led by Animoca.
