[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Dae-yeol] Porsche Korea announced that it will launch the facelifted model of the compact sports utility vehicle (SUV) Macan on the 24th. Since its first debut in 2014, the second-generation model has been facelifted to enhance performance by increasing power and using a new suspension system.
It will be released in two versions: Macan S and Macan GTS. The facelifted version of the existing base model will not be released domestically this time. The Macan S uses a 2.9ℓ V6 biturbo engine. It delivers a maximum output of 380 horsepower, which is 26 horsepower more than before, and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.8 seconds. The top speed is 259 km/h.
The Macan GTS also uses a 2.9-liter V6 biturbo engine. With a maximum output increased by 69 horsepower to 449 horsepower, it can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.3 seconds when equipped with the Sport Chrono Package. The top speed is 272 km/h. All new Macan models come with a 7-speed Porsche Dual-Clutch Transmission (PDK) and Porsche Traction Management (PTM) all-wheel-drive system.
Along with a new suspension, the chassis has been optimized to respond more directly to driving conditions and road surfaces, the company said. The Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM), included as standard, continuously adjusts the damping force of each wheel. The new car uses a standard sports air suspension that lowers the body by 10 mm. The front axle is 10% stiffer, and the rear axle is 15% stiffer. The optional GTS Sport Package is differentiated by 21-inch GT design wheels with high-performance tires.
The exterior emphasizes a sleek impression. New 3D structures are featured at the front and rear. Fourteen colors are available, including new shades such as Papaya Metallic, and custom colors can be selected as an option. There are seven wheel designs. The interior center fascia has been changed to a haptic touch response, and the selector lever has been shortened. The GTS Sport Package, applied to the top model, includes exclusive options such as an 18-way sports kit. The Macan S is priced at 95.6 million KRW (including VAT), and the GTS at 114.5 million KRW.
