[Asia Economy Reporter Kum Bo-ryeong] The office of President-elect Yoon Seok-yeol stated on the 23rd regarding the upcoming ROK-U.S. joint military exercises expected next month, "The current commander-in-chief of the armed forces is President Moon Jae-in," adding, "We understand that the decision will be made through discussions with the U.S., the current Blue House, and the Ministry of National Defense."

On the same day, Kim Eun-hye, spokesperson for the President-elect, responded to a question at the press conference held at the Presidential Transition Committee in the Korea Financial Training Institute in Samcheong-dong, Seoul, asking, "The U.S. side wants to coordinate positions with Korea regarding the ROK-U.S. joint exercises scheduled for next month. Has the President-elect's side expressed any opinions?"

It has been reported that both Korea and the U.S. plan to conduct the joint exercises in the first half of the year around mid-next month.

It was tentatively decided to hold the "Crisis Management Staff Training" (CMST), which can be seen as a preliminary exercise for the main training assuming a wartime situation on the Korean Peninsula, from the 12th to the 15th of next month, and the main joint command post exercise for the first half of the year is scheduled to take place from the 18th to the 28th.
