[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwan-joo] Novocell Bio announced on the 23rd that it has completed a manufacturing facility for cell therapy production at the Monterrey Zambrano Hellion Hospital, a foundation hospital of TecSalud University in Mexico.


Novocell Bio plans to start full-scale clinical trials and patient treatments in both countries this year, linked with its excellent pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities for domestic clinical progress.


In the first half of this year, clinical trials for COVID-19 using the ‘NOVO-NK’ immune cell therapy began first in Mexico, and it was agreed to additionally proceed with clinical trials for breast cancer in the second half, continuing to expand indications.


A Novocell Bio official said, “The clinical trial system in Mexico has advantages over that in Korea, so the clinical speed is expected to be quite fast,” adding, “Patient treatment in Mexico will be possible within next year.”


Novocell Bio possesses technology related to large-scale cultivation and activation of NK cells and is focusing on the development of treatments and vaccines for cancer, autoimmune diseases, and viral diseases.
