[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] On the afternoon of the 21st, President Moon Jae-in received a report from Kang Eun-ho, Administrator of the Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA), on the development plan for major defense capability improvement projects, including the Fleet Air Defense Missile-II research and development project, in the presence of Minister of National Defense Seo Wook, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Won In-chul, and Director of the Agency for Defense Development (ADD) Park Jong-seung.

Receiving the final defense capability improvement project report during his term, President Moon said, "It is highly significant that most of the reported projects are either developed domestically or are about to enter mass production," adding, "Along with budget allocation, efforts to strengthen national defense must continue steadily in the next administration as well."

Today's report is part of the legal procedures to be reflected in the 2023 defense capability improvement budget and will go through subsequent procedures such as review by the Defense Acquisition Program Promotion Committee and project feasibility studies before being finalized through National Assembly deliberation.
