Muju-gun Launches Full-Scale Afforestation Project for Spring Season

[Muju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Han-ho] Muju County announced on the 21st that it will actively work to increase residents' income and create a pleasant living environment through afforestation projects this spring.

This afforestation project covers a total of 173 ha, including △52 ha of Japanese cypress (Chamaecyparis obtusa) △32 ha of lily △40 ha of larch △49 ha of pine and 10 other species.

Muju County plans to foster economically and ecologically valuable and healthy forests through this year's afforestation project to increase income in farming and mountain villages.

The afforestation project not only ensures a sustainable supply of timber resources but also expands healing spaces in response to increased demand for forest recreation and enables rapid response to forest disasters caused by climate change.

Meanwhile, Muju County is also actively promoting spring wildfire prevention, which greatly undermines the value of forests, along with this afforestation project.

In addition, the county plans to secure forest resources by diversifying afforestation methods considering the characteristics of terrain and climate regions and promoting environmentally friendly, customized, high value-added afforestation projects in the future.
